Partial Government Shutdown Impacting Clinical Trials

medical

(Memphis) Every week, hundreds of new patients, including children with cancer, are admitted to new clinical trials through the National Institute of Health.

But because of the government shutdown, those patients who are newly registered are being put on hold until the government resumes operation.

An estimated 200 people register for clinical trials every week.

About 30 of those are children, and about 10 of those kids, are cancer patients.

Participants who are already in studies are still being treated and will continue with their trials.
