Nashville, TN-The Tennessee Titans got good news on the health status of their starting quarterback Jake Locker on Tuesday.

A second MRI showed Locker suffered just a sprained hip against the New York Jets on Sunday and could be back in the lineup after missing just a few weeks.

The Titans have a bye in Week 8 so Locker may only miss three games.

Veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the Titans starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.  Rusty Smith, who has been on the Titans practice squad, will the backup.  The Titans worked out journeyman David Carr on Tuesday, but decided not to sign him.

The 3-1 Titans host 4-0 Kansas City on Sunday in a game you’ll see on News Channel 3 at noon.
