Pittsburgh, PA-The Tennessee Titans took a big step back and then a huge jump forward in their season opener at Pittsburgh.
After Titans return man Darius Reynaud stepped back into the end zone for an embarrassing safety on the opening kickoff, the Titans pretty much manhandled the Steelers.
Titans running back Chris Johnson rushed for 70 of the team’s 112 rushing yards in what turned out to be a defensive battle. New Titans defensive assistant Greg Williams, known for his aggressive style, helped lead a defense scheme that sacked Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger five times as the Titans won in Pittsburgh, 16-9.
Jackie Battle scored the Titans only touchdown on a three-yard run to go with three Rob Bironas field goals. The Titans play Houston next week.
