(Memphis) It won’t happen for a while, but eventually the current Midtown Kroger grocery store will close.

In-fact, there could be a few months where Midtowners will not have a Kroger store at which to shop.

The grocery giant is building a 50,000 square foot store beside the current location at 1761 Union.

Toward the end of construction, the old store will close and be knocked down to build a parking lot.

The new store is scheduled to open in early 2015.
