Unloaded Gun Found At Cypress Middle School

(Memphis) An unloaded gun was found at Cypress Middle School Tuesday morning.

The school board called the police department at 11:22 a.m., saying a school officer had retrieved the gun from a student’s backpack.

The 13-year-old student was charged with possession of a weapon on school property, according to MPD.

This is the second time in less than a week that a gun has been found in a Shelby County school.

A gun brought by a 5-year-old student went off last Thursday morning at Westside Elementary.

The gun, which was in a backpack at the time, went off in the cafeteria.

No one was hurt.
