(Memphis) A woman authorities say may have been kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, although she told them otherwise, has been found unharmed in Forrest City, Ark.
It all started Sunday at about 12 a.m., when officers responded to an aggravated assault and kidnapping call in the 800 block of North Claybrook.
A 50-year-old man told officer he and 20-year-old Brittney Studway were assaulted by Studway’s ex-boyfriend, 40-year-old Ryan Stokes.
The man said Stokes kicked in the door, assaulted them, then grabbed Studway and forced her outside and into his car.
The man added that Stokes then went back and fired a shot through the front door of the residence. The man was not hit by the bullet.
Police then issued a City Watch for Studway, and got information about her and her potential location .
They tried to contact Studway, and a female who answered their call identified herself as Brittney Studway.
She said she hadn’t been kidnapped and didn’t need help, and said she would report to MPD so that City Watch could be cancelled.
But Studway never showed up at MPD, so the City Watch remained in effect and a warrant was issued for Stokes for two counts of aggravated assault, aggravated burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony.
At about 3:45 p.m. MPD learned Studway and Stokes were found in Forrest city.
Stokes was taken into custody. He will be extradited to Memphis for further investigation.
Studway is on her way to Memphis to speak with investigators.
