Ole Miss Student Info Accidentally Sent In Email

(Jackson, MS) Personal information about more than 2200 Ole Miss students was accidentally sent out in an email to 190 students.

This happened at the Jackson, MS campus of the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

We are told the information about Jackson, MS students only.

Of the 190 students who received the email, at least 115 opened it.

We are told a person in student accounting was intending to send students a spreadsheet about health insurance benefits.

However, the sheet she attached included the Social Security numbers and GPA of 2279 students.

The sender reportedly realized the error and recalled the email.

Affected students are being notified and offered free identity theft protection.

A plan is being made to make sure the accident is not repeated.

This does not affect Oxford, MS students.
