A Man Is Dead After An Overnight Shooting In South Memphis

(Memphis) A south Memphis man is dead after a verbal altercation escalated to gunfire.

Officers were called to the 2800 block of Raja in south Memphis around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. There they found 21-year-old Devario Middlebrook with a gunshot wound.

Investigators say Middlebrook and Anthony Wooten got into an argument. Wooten left the scene, came back with a gun and shot Middlebrook.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wooten was later located by Memphis police and arrested. He has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and will face a judge Monday morning.
