Five Charged In Senatobia Murder

(Senatobia, MS) Five People have been arrested and charged with the murder of Edgar Gomez in Senatobia, MS.

Three males and two females are in custody charged with capital murder and robbery.

Gomez man was found dead July 8, after police say someone invaded his home.

It happened in the 100 block of North Heard Street in Senatobia, Miss.

Neighbors in his trailer park said Gomez was a friendly person, always cracking jokes and teaching the neighborhood kids how to speak Spanish.

Stacy Jackson and her husband live right next door to Gomez, and were woken up at around 1 a.m. Monday when police knocked at their door.

“The reason I got so upset, it could have been us. It could have been any of our neighbors,” Jackson said.

She said she met a niece of Gomez’s Monday afternoon and cried with her.

Jackson said she’s praying for his family.

“Keep our community safe, people. Stop trying to rob and steal when there are other things you can do with your time,” she said.

Senatobia Police Chief Steve Holts would not say if anything was stolen from Gomez’s home,
“We haven’t had anything like this happen since 2004, nine years ago.”
