(Jackson, MS) The Mississippi Health Department says three members of a family became ill after eating Buffalo fish caught in Mississippi waters.

The fish can cause a rare condition known as Haff Disease.

It causes muscle pain, stiffness and sometimes kidney damage.

Some people experience extreme fatigue.

Haff Disease is rare, with only 30 cases in the United States since 1984.

Most people need to be treated in the hospital.

Health officials says Buffalo fish is popular and most people never get sick.
