(Memphis) 44-year-old Gregory Lucius is facing several charges after he nearly crashed his vehicle into several children who were playing in their front yard.

Police say that Lucius was drunk when he was driving on the wrong side of the street on Maria Street in the Nutbush area.  Lucius swerved to miss an oncoming vehicle, and that's when his Chevrolet Silverado jumped the curb and hit a tree that was only a few feet away from where the children were playing.

The children are ok, and when officers arrived they arrested Lucius. The "Affidavit of Complaint" also revealed that Lucius is a Revoked-Habitual Offender, which means this was at least his 4th DUI offense.

He now faces eight new charges including DUI, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.

Lucius  is being held at the CJC.
