(Memphis) A teenager is recovering after her throat was cut. Her boyfriend is behind bars for the crime.
Police were able to cuff the boyfriend after a tense standoff in the Hillshire Neighborhood in East Memphis Friday morning.
Neighbors are still trying to figure out what happened.
"I was kind of surprised when I saw all the guns that officers had," said Bud Brazelton.
Brazelton lives just across the street where the stabbing happened and captured the aftermath on his cellphone.
He watched as police stormed the two-story house and brought a young man out by force.
He said the man continued to fight with police and was eventually taken away by ambulance.
"They finally subdued him and finally put him in an ambulance and strapped him down so he couldn't hurt anybody," said Brazelton.
Police said the 20-year-old man slashed his girlfriend's throat inside her house. She was able to run to a neighbor's house for help.
Brazelton says she ended at the home of a neighborhood watch member a few doors away.
"She was covered in blood," said Brazelton.
Neighbors said the teen's boyfriend was at the home last night and for some reason her mother kicked him out.
They said there has never been trouble at the home before and they were surprised something like that happened.
"I think it's horrible. That is almost next door to me," said a neighbor.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
So far, no charges have been filed in the case.
