Some MLGW customers have received calls about their utility bill from (901) 310-9749.

But calls from this number are a scam.

After answering, the customer is placed on hold. Then the call drops.

If the customer calls back, no one answers and a voicemail message says the number is for the MLGW office, then tells the caller to leave their information so someone can call back.

If the customer uses *69 to check who called, (901) 544-6549 – the actual MLGW Customer Care number – is shown. Of course, these calls aren’t actually coming from MLGW.

MLGW uses auto-dialers to let customers know a payment needs to be made, but its service representatives never personally call a customer to request payment.

If you have received one of these calls or any other that you suspect may be a scam, call the Memphis Police Department at (901) 454-2677.
