Kroger Buys Supermarket Chain

(Memphis) Kroger is expanding.

The company has agreed to buy Harris Teeter Supermarkets.

In a more than $2 billion deal, Kroger will acquire the rival supermarket chain.

Harris Teeter operates 212 stores in the United States, along with a pair of distribution centers and a dairy facility.

The deal has been approved by both companies’ boards.
