Two Dead After Separate Car Crashes

(Memphis) Two people died in separate car crashes this weekend.

In Memphis there was a two car crash around 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning on I-40 near Madison. Officer arrived on the scene to find two cars engulfed in flames.

Investigators say the driver of a Hyundai was driving north on I-240 in the southbound lanes when it struck head-on a Dodge Nitro traveling east-bound to go south-bound on I-240 South/Madison exit.

Memphis Police Officer C. White was able to pull the driver of the Hyundai from the car. He was taken to The MED in critical condition. The driver of the Dodge Nitro died at the scene.

No identities have been released at this time.

In Southaven, a person died in a two car crash on Stateline Road near Lacey. It happened around 9:00 p.m. Saturday night. That person’s identity has not been released.
