Memphis, TN-Longtime Grizzlies assistant Dave Joerger is expected to be introduced on Thursday as the team’s next head coach.  Joerger will replace the man he worked for on the bench for the past three and a half years, Lionel Hollins.

The 39-year-old Joerger has been grooming for this position for years.  Before joining the Grizzlies as an assistant in 2007, he was a successful head coach in the minor leagues.  Joerger won five championships in seven years in the minors.

The Grizzlies new management likes Joerger’s potential as a bench boss, his ability to work well with the front office and keeping some continuity with a team that’s coming off the best season in franchise history.

Joerger interviewed for two head coaching jobs in the NBA last summer in Charlotte and Portland.
