(Millington, TN) Call it good detective work or a case of one of the dumbest criminals ever.

A thief who stole a surveillance camera from outside the Lucy Road Flea Market in Millington gave Shelby County Detectives a closeup they say helped put him behind bars.

Forty-three-year-old Paul Marshall was arrested after the sheriff's department posted the picture on their Facebook page.

Deputies say someone identified him as the man in the picture.

Investigators say they found Marshall at a house in the 1500 block of Dimwood.

They also found the camera from the flea market mounted above the front door.

"I'm thinking he's sort of not that smart," said Winford Davis.

Winford Davis owns the flea market and was shocked to see someone had stolen his from the side of his building, but even more surprised to see the incredibly good pictures of the suspect.

"His face looked at the camera for quite a number of seconds before he could determine if he could tear it off the wall," said Davis.

In one photo, you can even see the man's tattoos.

Davis is thankful sheriff's deputies were able to solve the case so fast and hopes Marshall has learned his lesson.

"The public was a great help and we appreciate it," said Davis.

He said when the camera was ripped off his building it damaged part of his surveillance system and it will cost around $1,400 to replace.

Marshall has been charged with theft of property. He was released on $1,000 bond.
