(Memphis) Nearly 1,100 MLGW customers are without power as of 11 p.m. Wednesday.

MLGW reports strong wind from a storm damaged power poles Wednesday afternoon. Crews worked along Macon Road near Houston Levee well into the night, Wind snapped poles there and had some power lines downed and many more leaning toward the ground.

Earlier, more than 4400 MLGW addresses were without power. Most of the outages were in the Cordova area, with some in Hickory Hill, Millington, Germantown and Midtown.

Near Berryhill Road, a number of residents had trees topple onto their homes and cars. Residents were already using power tools to try to get to their trapped vehicles.

Strong winds and hail were reported earlier in Cordova, and some areas saw a 20 degree drop in temperatures.

None of the storms have been classified as severe. People with storm damage say insurance companies weren't planning to inspect their damage until Thursday.
