(Maywood, CA) U.S. Marshals have fanned out across the near eastern suburbs of Los Angeles, looking for a Mississippi couple on their 15 most wanted list.

We told you a couple of weeks ago about Janet Barreto’s addition to the list.

She and her husband have been on the run for years and are wanted in connection with the death of their little 2-year-old girl in 2009.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards says, for now, all leads point West.

”Everything right now is pointing out there and like I said, the Marshal’s out of Oxford went out there Monday," he said.

They’ve joined forces with California Marshals in the most intensive hunt for the couple yet.

Sheriff Edwards tells me Ramon Barreto still has brothers in the Memphis area, but he says it’s been some time since he’s had any tips of sightings of the couple in Tennessee.

District Attorney Ben Creekmore said earlier this month, he’s ready to haul them into court in the little girl's death.

”Her death demands that they have a trial, that they face responsibility for what they’ve done," he said.

They already let their oldest daughter take the rap for the toddler’s death, and Janet Barreto reportedly even tried to get the girl to lie about her involvement in the case.

Sheriff Edwards has even appeared on the TV Show America’s Most Wanted to get the whole country looking for the couple.

He’s certain their luck will soon run out.

”We are optimistic and hopeful that this will pan out," Edwards said.

He’s looking forward to seeing the couple face-to-face, as he closes the jailhouse door on them.
