(Memphis) Police say a man arguing with a mother shot her while she was holding her daughter.
The woman is in the hospital in critical condition. Her daughter is fine.
Antonious Tucker, 41, is behind bars and facing a long list of aggravated assault charges.
Tucker was at his mom`s house in the 1300 block of Tutwiler when he punched a female cousin in the face. Police showed up and took a report.
After they left, Tucker got into another argument with Keosha Miller.
Witnesses say he shot Miller while Miller was cradling her 8-year-old daughter.
Miller was rushed to the MED. Her daughter was not hit by a bullet.
“That`s not right,” said neighbor Gloria Echols.
Witnesses also told police Tucker shot at another woman, but missed her.
Nichols didn't hear any gunshots, but was startled when she went to take out the trash and saw a sea of Memphis police squad cars.
“I looked down the street, they had the street blocked off,” said Nichols
In Tucker’s mug shot, the 41-year-old is banged up badly, but nobody is saying how he was hurt. His mother didn’t want to speak with News Channel 3, and neither did someone living in the same home as Tucker across the street.
Neighbors are concerned.
“What if the bullet didn't hit the lady and hit the baby?” asked Myra Jones.
Nichols is glad that did not happen.
“God works in mysterious ways, the child was saved,” said Nichols.
According to court records, this is not the first time Tucker has gotten into trouble with police. But this is the first time Tucker has been charged with anything related to violence.
