(DeSoto County, MS) An annual get-together in Horn Lake draws a “who’s who” of big time DeSoto County political names for “washer pitchin.’”

It started more than 50 years ago with annual camping events for Tommy Teer of Horn Lake and a few of his friends.

They pitched washers for entertainment, and the game caught on in a big way.

”And when we camped together we’d start playing, you know, and before you know it, there’s be a crowd waiting their turn,” Teer said.

The group doesn’t camp anymore. Now they meet in Teer’s backyard for their annual match, and a little barbeque lunch.

Teer says he’ll keep hosting the annual contest as long as he gets a little help with the hosting chores.
