(Memphis) - Two people are dead and two others are hurt after a shooting at a south Memphis Apartment Complex. It happened just before 7:00 p.m. at the Woodbridge Crossing Apartments on Ketchum.

Memphis investigators are trying to find out how the shooting started. Police say over a hundred people were hanging out in the complex courtyard enjoying their Sunday afternoon when the apparent gun battle erupted.

One of the four shooting victims was wheeled away by paramedics. You could see the man suffered an apparent gunshot to the ankle, but it was just a minor injury compared to two others who were killed by the gunfire.

Witnesses say the shooting apparently started after two women got into an argument and someone pulled out a gun and began firing. Witnesses say others started shooting back. People in the courtyard ran for their life, women and children, some even as young as toddlers as they saw bullets hitting the dirt around them. One woman says she heard more than 50 gunshots.

"There is no regard for any body else, not an innocent bystander, a child, it really didn't matter. It's a life, period," said Aund Reus. "Why take a life if it's not necessary?"

Police say no suspects are in custody, but they are questioning several witnesses to find out exactly what happened tonight. A Lt. Col. with MPD said there is a surveillance camera that was watching the courtyard. They're going to look to see what images it may have captured.

Police are not releasing the names or ages of the two people who were killed but News Channel 3 is hearing that one may be as young as 14-years-old.
