(Memphis) We have a scam alert for Regions Bank customers.

Viewers contacted WREG after getting suspicious text messages claiming to be from  Regions Bank. Some of the viewers didn’t even have accounts with Regions.

The message says the person’s card has been de-activated and gives a number to call to have it re-activated again.

Regions Bank says if you receive the text asking you to call a number, do not call it. Do not provide any personal information and never respond to a phone call or voice mail service asking you to verify account information.

If you believe you are a victim of fraud call Regions Bank at 1-800-REGIONS.

Similar scams are being reported across the country with scammers using names of different banks each time.
