Gold medalist dead after America’s Cup boat capsizes

(San Francisco) A training cruise on San Francisco Bay ended in tragedy for an America’s Cup racing team from Sweden. The Artemis Racing catamaran capsized near the famous Alcatraz Thursday afternoon, killing one team member.

Andrew Simpson, a two-time Olympic medalist from the U.K., died in the accident when he was trapped under the boat. The highly experienced sailor was one of an 11-man crew.
