(Memphis) The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornado touchdowns in the Mid-South.
The first tornado was rated an EF-1 and hit the Belmont community in Fayette County around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday. The twister had winds of around 105 m.p.h. Several buildings were damaged and one person suffered minor injuries.
The second tornado occurred at 9:55 p.m. on Saturday near Pope, MS in Panola County. Storm survey teams say that tornado was an EF-2 with winds of 112 m.p.h. No injuries were reported, but the roofs were blown off several buildings and an RV and a truck were overturned.
