(Readington, NJ) Some New Jersey eighth graders may have to return their dresses for the school dance because of a proposed dress code.

The principal of Readington Middle School is banning all strapless dresses at the June dance, claiming the dresses will distract teenage boys.

Parents, who took their complaints to the school board, say the order is rash and unjustified.

“It implicates that no matter how women are dressed, it’s their fault when something happens to them and that is appalling!” said Harry Nijenhuis, parent.

The school board could make a decision on the matter next month.
