(Memphis) Police shot and killed a man Tuesday night after an altercation at a gas station at 1414 Jackson.
Witnesses say a man driving a pink Chevrolet stopped at the gas station and was pumping gas when officers casually approached him.
Police say the man accelerated quickly at them and they were fearful of their lives and opened fire.
The man was shot eight times, and killed.
People in the neighborhood who said they witnessed the shooting told a different story, saying the man didn’t accelerate quickly and they weren’t sure why officers opened fire.
We’re told the officers were slightly injured.
Family members said the victim was 28 years old and they didn’t understand how this happened.
