(Memphis) A man and woman were arrested over the weekend after police say they left their children alone in their vehicle while they went shopping inside a Nike store.

It happened at a shopping center on Elvis Presley in Whitehaven.

A Memphis police officer who was working off-duty as a security guard at the store, said he spotted an eight-year-old, three toddlers and an infant unattended in a Dodge Durango.

The officer said the keys were still in the ignition and  there was a marijuana joint and an open can of beer in plain view.

Deborah Woods and Davis McAdams were both charged with leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana.

McAdams was also charged with child endangerment.

Woods is the mother of all five children.

McAdams is the father of two of the kids.

At least three of the children were in their parents custody Monday.
