(Memphis) Police say a man was shot and left for dead in the middle of the road.

It happened at Carbon and Elder.

Police are still trying to identify the victim as well as the person who killed him.

Police say the man who was shot and killed was found lying on the ground on Carbon Lane.

When News Channel 3 asked neighbors what happened Wednesday afternoon, nobody seemed to want to talk.

“How come nobody wants to talk,” asked Reporter Sabrina Hall.

“What did you see?” asked Hall.

“I ain’t see nothing,” said a girl out front of a house.

“What happened?” asked Hall.

“No one will talk to me about anything that happened yesterday,” said Hall.

“From what I see when I work in this area, it’s kind of scary,” said Maintenance Man Kenneth Andersen. “When the sun goes down is when I am gone.”

Kenneth, who was renovating a home on Carbon Lane, was the only person who talked to News Channel 3.

Andersen had already gone home for the day when rescue workers tried to save a man shot and bleeding on the road.

The 26-year-old died at The MED and the person who murdered him is still out there.

Police believe he got away in a 2012 white Jaguar.

“There needs to be more police patrol,” said Andersen.

Anderson says the area, known as Westwood, is gang-ridden and it could be why nobody wanted to talk to us.
