(Memphis) A Hickory Hill woman was found shot to death in an apartment Sunday evening.
Investigators were gathering evidence and did not release much information, like who this woman was.
Loud sobs filled the parking lot at the Hickory Farms Apartments after Memphis Police say a 20-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment, apparently shot to death.
“I heard a gunshot about 30 minutes to an hour ago,” said Alecia Person, a neighbor.
Investigators say someone found the woman inside the apartment. That’s when police were called, but by the time paramedics showed up, the 20-year-old was already dead.
Person believes she heard the gunshot that killed her neighbor, “It was really loud to the point where it made me jump.”
As investigators piece together clues for a killer, many who live in the complex did not imagine they would be spending their holiday in a place wrapped in crime scene tape and cluttered with police cars.
“It’s not a happy Easter, you know, to see this, knowing a 20-year-old, somebody’s child done lost her life and her life is just beginning,” said Jackie Mabry.
Investigators say there are no suspects in custody, nor do they have any strong leads on who might have pulled the trigger, but whoever it was, people in the hickory farms community, hope police can track the killer down.
“I hope they find out what happened and who did it because it sad,” said Mabry.
Unfortunately, it was a violent Easter weekend. There were seven different shootings and two of them were deadly.
