Victim of Serial Rapist Reacts to His Sentence
(Memphis) His attacks spanned nearly a decade, but Tuesday the man called the “Cordova Serial Rapist” pleaded guilty to raping 7 women.
Anthony Alliano, age 42, pleaded guilty to a series of aggravated rapes, one rape of a child, and multiple aggravated sexual batteries.
He was sentenced to 178 years in front of several of his victims.
“To have someone sentenced to 178 years is justice sweet justice,” Rachel Johnson said.
Watching her rapist Anthony Alliano plead guilty to raping her and six other women was the moment Rachel Johnson had waited for.
“That was huge closure,” she said.
In court Tuesday, for the first time Rachel got to meet the other women who lived her same nightmare.
One of the women was just 12-years-old when Alliano attacked her.
“It was scary how similar it was, and this is going back to the girls who were 12 to 16 at the time 9 to 10 years ago, down to the use of the mask, to the use of mask, the knife he had prepared he had stalked all of us as victims and that became even more evident today talking to them,” she said.
She called Tuesday’s sentencing hearing therapeutic, “It gave me a lot of peace.”
She didn’t speak on the stand, but said her fellow victims passionately did, “She said I forgive you. You now have to live with this.”
Rachel was Alliano’s 6th rape victim and it was her attack that landed Alliano behind bars.
He stole her credit card after raping her in a closet.
He was later identified after surveillance video captured him using her card at Walmart.
“You go through the why me phase. Why me? What did I do? And this is why. I get to be part of saving so many lives,” she said.
Rachel’s also thankful that by sharing her story with News Channel 3 last September a 7th victim came forward.
“She called police and said test my rape kit and see if this is matching DNA to this guy and it was. So, our news story, me coming out brought her out and now she was able to sit in there today and get that closure,” she said.
For other victims of other violent crimes she has this message to them.
“Hang in there and it will make you one heck of a strong person,” she said.
The District Attorney General’s Office released the following statement about Alliano’s attacks.
They said there was DNA found at all the scenes that linked him to the rapes.
