(Memphis) A whole lot of shaking went on at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library Friday afternoon.

Kids and adults got a little crazy and took part in "Letting Loose At The Library" doing the "Memphis Version" of the Harlem Shake.

Participants were asked to dress and their favorite book character and a prize was given to the best costume. Books, backpacks, pizza parties, and Kindle Fires were among other prizes given for participation.

“The Harlem Shake at the Library is a wonderful way to show customers how fun reading can be,” said Stephanie White, director of Library communications. “Great things are always happening at the Library, and this event offers parents, administrators, and teachers a chance to show students that reading is ‘fun’damental!”

Former WNBA player Helen Darling and Rocky the Red Bird were also there to help get the word out about the library's Summer Reading 2013 program. It kicks off June 1, and runs until July 27th.

This year will mark the 110th summer for the program.
