(Memphis) A Memphis police officer has been arrested and charged with Simple Assault/DV, DUI, and Refusal to submit to a B.A.C.

Police were called to 2855 Old Austin Peay concerning a Domestic Assault Friday afternoon.

Police say they found a woman who said her boyfriend, Lazarus Settle, had been involved in a physical altercation with her.

The woman said Settle began the argument, “due to a disagreement over the volume of the car radio.”

According to police, “During the argument, Settle requested that the victim exit his vehicle at which time she took the keys out of the ignition of the vehicle.

Settle forced the victim out of the vehicle and also exited the vehicle. While they fought over the keys, both the victim and Settle fell down the hill causing minor cuts and scratches.”

Police say both had been drinking before the argument.

Lazarus Settle has been with the police department since January 19, 2009. He is assigned to Ridgeway Station and is currently relieved of duty.
