Town Comes Together In Search For Missing Walnut Ridge, AR Girl
(Walnut Ridge, AR) Members of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Rescue Squad are now helping in the search for a missing Arkansas teen.
Sidney Nicole Randall disappeared Sunday and detectives believed her stepfather took her.
He was found dead Monday.
After hearing Sidney’s story, people in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas have stepped up and joined in on the search to find her.
Sidney’s mother, Denise Cornell, is hoping her daughter will be home soon, ”The good Lord is going to bring her home. She’s gonna come home.”
Denise Cornell remembers the last thing she said to her daughter, 14-year old Sidney Nicole Randall, ”I told her goodnight.”
Sidney vanished early Sunday morning.
Her stepfather John Cornell was found dead Monday.
Denise Cornell’s youngest son has finally been told what happened, ”He shot himself. That was it.”
Wednesday an army of investigators, rescue squads and search dog teams were back in the area of Lawrence County where John Cornell’s body was found.
Walnut Ridge Police Chief Richy Thatcher says no stone will be left unturned, ”We’re just looking for any kind of clues, leads, anything that we can come up with.”
Chief Thatcher says the search for Sidney has been extensive and exhausting, but no one is ready to give up, ”We’re just hoping that she’s safe, where ever she’s at. Whether he let her out somewhere and she’s hiding or something: just her safety is our concern.”
Authorities are asking the public to check their property for anything suspicious.
Gale Weir and Peggy Maryman got up early to ride the back roads, hoping to catch a glimpse of Sidney.
Gale Weir says she couldn’t sleep for worrying about the girl, ”My grandson is in her grade and they were Facebook friends and she’s such a pretty little girl.”
At Sidney’s home in Walnut Ridge there is a steady stream of well-wishers still shocked by what happened.
Teresa and Ronnie Hart know Denise Cornell and thought they knew John Cornell,
“The John I know would not have done any of this. And who knows what goes on in a person’s mind.”
Sidney’s mother is sure she’ll be found safe and says she knows she’ll be home in time for a special event: a pageant Sidney entered before she disappeared.
