(Memphis) A fifteen year old Memphis girl says she and her friend were here at thirty-eight year old Terry Higgs' house in North Memphis hanging out when he started to put the moves on her.

According to the police affidavit he rubbed her thigh and breast.

She didn`t like it, but what she didn`t know was Higgs had a pistol in his waist band.

She told police when she tried to get away he started hitting her over the head with his pistol.

That`s when the teen sprayed him with pepper spray and escaped with a few bumps and bruises.

“They need to choose who they're dealing with. That`s all I can say,” said Bernard Gray.

Gray knows Higgs and says it would be a good idea to for everyone to be careful about who they meet with in private.

Neiko Shaw is Higgs neighbor and says he`s never seen women going in or out of the house.

“If he`s hanging with a fifteen year old that`s sad.  He`s got no business being with her if he`s not related to her anyway,” said Shaw.

At this point we don`t know why the fifteen year old and her friend were with Higgs.

The Memphis Rape Crisis Center says there are a few things you can do to prevent becoming a victim.

Some of those include not meeting someone in person you don`t know, never meet someone you`ve meet online in a private place, travel in groups, and keep your cell phone on you at all times.

They say it is also a good idea to carry pepper spray with you, but only if you know how to use it because you can also injure yourself.
