Woman Injured in Whitehaven Fire

(Memphis) Memphis Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of an overnight fire that destroyed a Whitehaven home in the 1800 block of McPherson near Holmes Road.

Fire crews were called to the house around 12:45 Wednesday morning. There were three people that lived at the home.

The homeowner was burned on her arm while trying to escape the flames.

“You could see the fire was starting to pick up. There was this white light in the distance that just kept getting large,” said neighbor Courtney Holmes.

The homeowner was taken to the Med and treated for first and second degree burns. She will okay.

There was concern for the family’s two German Shepards but they were found safe in the back yard.

“You have two cars, three cars in my vision right now destroyed and a home that somebody’s got to find a place to stay you know,” added Holmes.

The fire did spread to a neighbor’s home leaving smoke and roof damage and destroying one of the vehicles.

Memphis Fire has not determined the cause of the fire.
