(Chicago, IL) More Americans are apparently making late credit card payments.

This information comes from credit reporting agency TransUnion.

Late payments, meaning those at least 90 days overdue, jumped 9% in the fourth quarter compared to last year.

Experts blame overspending during the holiday season.

The average amount borrowers charged in the fourth quarter was more than $5,000.
