(Knoxville) A Kentucky preacher is fighting the state of Tennessee to get his snakes back.

Pastor Gregory Coots was pulled over in Knoxville last month and police found five poisonous snakes in the vehicle.

Police confiscated the snakes, saying it’s against the law to have a venomous snake.

The three rattlesnakes and two copperheads were taken to a zoo.

Pastor Coots says he uses the snakes in his sermons and wants them back.

He plans to fight the state to get the reptiles back.

A trial date has been set for the end of the month.
