Woman Alleges She May Have Been Sexually Assaulted By Off Duty Officer

(Memphis) Memphis police say a woman has alleged she may have been sexually assaulted by an off duty Memphis police officer.

 The 21-year-old woman said she met up with, “a male suspect, who is an acquaintance, ” around 3 a.m. Sunday.

The woman said she left Beale Street without the man but somehow he found out where she lived and came to her house.

According to police, “The victim advised that she did recall texting and speaking with the suspect after leaving Beale, but she did not recall telling him where she lived. The victim advised that she was intoxicated and did not remember everything, but she was able to recall that the suspect possibly sexually assaulted her.”   

Police say the alleged victim was able to identify the officer by name.

The officer and he is assigned to the Downtown Station, Entertainment District Unit and has been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

No charges have been filed.
