(Marks, MS) Two men were escorted off an Amtrak train by Marks police, after another passenger was found crying in the train’s bathroom over something she says, happened between her and the two men.
It’s not clear exactly what happened, but we do know the woman didn’t want to see a doctor.
The two men weren’t charged with a crime, but they did have to find their way back to Memphis to catch another Amtrak train.
Former mayor Dwight Barfield drove the men to Memphis.
He says this isn’t the first time something like this has happened.
“I know a couple of years ago they used Marks to kick people off the train,” said Barfield.
Amtrak says at least one passenger gets kicked off its trains everyday over problems, but also says there are 300 of those trains running.
We’re told if a rider’s presence is disruptive, a conductor can make a call to the nearest law enforcement and have the rider removed.
Barfield says, he didn’t feel in danger when he drove the two to Memphis, but believes them being booted off the train was the best thing.
” I think it’s a good idea for the safety of the other passengers,” said Barfield.
