(Tipton County) A Mid-South hunter captured a woman burglarizing his home.
It happened outside of Millington in the 4000 block of Quito Drummonds Road in Tipton County.
"I pulled up in the yard and there was a car there," Alfred Wilson said.
Wilson told News Channel 3 on December 19th he was just getting home after a day of hunting to find a strangers car parked outside.
"The storm window was out like it was on a hinge," he said.
A few minutes later he came face to face with the intruder.
"The lady came out from behind that bush there and was trying to get in her car and get away," he said.
That's when he went to his car and grabbed his gun.
"This is a deer rifle," he said. "It's not an assault weapon. It's a deer rifle."
He held the woman at gunpoint until police arrived.
"All I wanted to do was stop the lady," he said. "I didn't want to be the judge, jury, and executioner so to speak right here."
Once police got there they arrested Melissa Rodriguez,32.
Inside her car police say they found four of Wilson's guns, a cross-bow and that's not all.
"They had our TV all our jewelry, telephones, and what not inside. They was fixing to make a big haul."
The woman told Wilson she wasn't the thief.
"She said my son that did that," he said.
Police say a 17-year-old got away before they got there. He's now a wanted man while Rodriguez faces several charges including aggravated robbery..
Wilson said he's glad his quick thinking captured the alleged crook.
"If I hadn't had a gun that day with me would have lost everything I had," he said. "She would have been scott-free."
Rodriguez is free on $10,000 bond. If you have information on the whereabouts of the juvenile call the Tipton County Sheriff's Office at 901-475-3300.
