Tigers Get By Greyhounds Of Loyola-Maryland
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis Men’s basketball team (9-3) collected 29 points from the free throw line and finished the game shooting 45 percent from the floor to get past Loyola, Md. (9-5), 78-64, Sunday night at FedExForum.
Joe Jackson finished with 22 points, two shy of his career high, on 5-of-6 shooting while also dishing out seven assists. Shaq Goodwin totaled 12 points in the second half to finish with 15 points on the night while Geron Johnson added 10 points and a career-high three blocks.
The Tigers held an advantage in assists (18-7), blocks (9-6) and steals (10-8) while Loyola outrebounded Memphis 42-29 with 23 offensive boards.
Memphis returns to action Friday, Jan. 4 to face in-state foe Tennessee at 7 p.m. inside Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville.
