Fatal, Critical Crashes Cause Delays On I-40

(Memphis) Three separate accidents have traffic on east-bound I-40 slowed to a crawl.

The first accident happened near Airline Rd. around 12:30p.m. Saturday afternoon and according to TDOT’s website, was cleared around 3:00p.m.

Officers with TDOT confirmed with WREG that a male juvenile has died from injuries sustained in that crash. Another victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Just before 3:00 p.m. there was another accident resulting in an overturned semi-truck near Canada Rd. There is no word on injuries in that crash.

Currently there is a crash working near Appling Rd. Memphis fire crews are on the scene but no immediate details are available.

These accidents are causing delays in the eastbound lanes but westbound is also slowed due to rubbernecking.
