(Memphis) A real-life Grinch has stolen Christmas from a young couple and their eight children.
Tezandrick Bell said she and her husband cut back, saved up, and put things on lay away to make sure this was a special Christmas for their new blended family.
"We got them all excited, amped up about Christmas. We told them to make good grades," said Bell.
She said they did, but now have no way to reward them because everything under their tree is gone.
Bell said last week, she came home and discovered that someone kicked in her back door and ransacked her home.
She said once she got over the shock, she realized all of the presents under their tree had been stolen.
"You see things on the news, and you can do nothing, but shake your head, and have sympathy in your heart for the people they took from and when it’s your home, and it happens to you sometimes you have to pray real hard to keep your sanity," said Bell.
Police told her they don't hold out much hope of recovering the gifts, and say they are overwhelmed with these types of crimes this time of year.
She said they will still have a good Christmas because they are all together.
This happened in the 2000 Block of Wild Woods Avenue in Frayser last Thursday.
