(MEMPHIS)  Doctors and nurses say they are seeing increased patients suffering from the flu.

The uptick is part of a national warning from the CDC of an early onset of the flu in five southern states including Tennessee and Mississippi.

Doctors don't know the reason behind the sudden cases but says the strains they're seeing are all a match for the current flu vaccine being issued.

They say a simple shot or mist spray will protect you from the current cases out there.

Doctors say it's not too late to get a vaccine, in fact, the Shelby County Health Department is giving them out for free this weekend at Southland Mall from Noon until 4pm.
