(McDowell County, NC) Controversy is growing after a 6-year-old girl was forced to remove a reference to God from a speech honoring veterans at a North Carolina school.
Apparently it was concern from one parent that created the controversy.
The child was asked to read what she’d written about her two grandfathers who served in Vietnam. Part of what she wrote read, “he prayed to God for peace, he prayed to God for strength.”
A person who works with first amendment cases said the school was correct to censor the speech.
