If you ever felt like the mannequins in a store were watching you, maybe they were.

Fashion stores are buying bionic mannequins to keep an eye on customers.

The mannequins record data on the people that walk by, helping the business figure out who’s shopping in their stores.

The data tells if shoppers are men or women, black or white, young or old.

No photographs are stored or recorded.

The mannequins have helped stores boost sales.

Each mannequin costs about five-thousand dollars.

Businesses say it’s not an invasion of privacy if images are not stored.
