Body Found Along I-55 In Memphis

(Memphis) Memphis police are trying to figure out how a man ended up dead along I-55.

The body of a white male was discover by a driver under the Shelby Drive overpass at around 7:30 Wednesday morning.

Police say the body was found face down, but they aren’t saying how they think he might have died.

A medical examiner was seen examining a ledge along the overpass and even looking underneath the bridge.

The investigation along the side of the highway during rush hour did create a bit of a distraction for drivers.

One driver, who apparently slowed down to get a closer look, caused two vehicles behind him to crash into each other.

“He was probably rubbernecking and slammed on the brakes, and when he did I slammed on my brakes, and the guy behind me just plowed into me,” said Carrie Harden.

No one was hurt in the accident, but traffic was backed up for a while.
