Name Of Second Officer In MPD ‘Friendly Fire’ Shooting Released

(Memphis) The name of the Memphis Police Officer who accidentally shot another officer has been released.

Forty-three year-old Byron Willis shot one time toward a dog that came at the officers as they tried to serve a warrant last week.

Willis missed the dog and hit officer Willie Bryant.

Bryant is still in Critical but Stable Condition.

Byron Willis has been with MPD since July 9, 2007.

Willie Bryant has been employed since Nov. 3, 2003.

Both men are OCU officers assigned to multi-agency unit.
