Attempted Kidnapping Suspect Arrested Again
St. Roland Jean-Charles
(Memphis) An Arlington man accused of attacking a jogger last year is now facing new charges in connection with an attempted kidnapping.
33-year-old St. Roland Jean-Charles will be arraigned Monday on attempted aggravated kidnapping charges. He’s accused of trying to kidnap an 11-year-old girl last month.
Shelby County deputies say the girl was walking home from visiting friend in the 4900 block of Knob Creek in Arlington when a man — believed to be Jean-Charles — came out from behind a tree and began following her.
The girl told deputies she began running and he started running after her. She told deputies that he ran away when she reached a friend’s house and began knocking on the door.
Jean-Charles lives in the neighborhood and is out on bail for similar charges he faces for an incident that happened last December in the same neighborhood.
Jean-Charles is awaiting trial in that case — in which he faces aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping charges. Deputies say he attacked a woman while she was jogging. That victim was able to fight him off.
